Michael “Mick” Barry received his Bachelor of Science in forestry from Iowa State University and his MBA from Henderson State University of Arkansas. He spent 19 years with Weyerhaeuser Co. His career then took him into manufacturing where he served in managerial roles. In 1989 he and his family moved to Iowa where he co-founded CC and C Recycling, a business that evolved into the Mid America Recycling Co., which became the largest privately held recycling company in the U.S. After later being acquired by Greenstar Recycling, Mick and his partners purchased back the Mid America Recycling facility in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2015. In 2014, they reacquired the Lincoln, Nebraska, facility, where Mick currently serves as president of Mid America Recycling. He has served on numerous industry boards.
