A recognized leader in the paper recovery industry, Jonathan ‘Johnny’ Gold spent 38 years with the Newark Group, advancing through six positions to president of Newark Recovery and Recycling. As a member of the senior management team since 1988, he led a consistently profitable division with six vice presidents and a nationwide staff of up to 500.
In 2015, Johnny started the Gold Group, a company that specializes in industry advocacy issues and brokerage sales.
A thought leader on public policy issues facing the recovered paper industry, Johnny has been a pivotal resource and visionary regarding industry issues, threats and opportunities.
Johnny also has served as chairman of the AF&PA Paper Recovery Sector, ISRI (now ReMA) Non-Metallic Division and the AF&PA and ISRI joint task force on paper recycling and is past president of the ReMA Paper Stock Institute chapter. He also has served as an arbitrator on waste paper practices on behalf of ISRI and has spoken before Congress on industry issues.
Johnny was the first recipient of the Phil Alpert Award for his industry contributions.
He is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and resides in Swampscott, Massachusetts.
