Gary McElyea

Head of the North America Public Policy Center, The Coca-Cola Company

Gary McElyea is the Head of the North America Public Policy Center at The Coca-Cola Company. Gary leads a team of public policy experts tasked with developing and implementing Coca-Cola’s ESG agenda in the U.S. and Canada supporting the company’s mission to refresh the world and make a difference. He has been a leader in Coca-Cola’s public policy and government affairs function since 2011.

In recent years, Gary led the development of key climate and sustainability policies for Coca-Cola’s North America operating unit. He currently serves as vice chair of the board of directors for The Recycling Partnership, and as an advisory council member for the U.S. Plastics Pact. In 2021, he was appointed to the New Jersey Plastics Advisory Council by Governor Phil Murphy.

Before joining Coca-Cola, Gary served as an advisor and spokesman for several state elected officials in Missouri. Gary has an M.B.A. from Missouri State University and lives on The Jersey Shore with his wife Alison, and daughters Nora and Emma.
