
John W. Casella
Chairman & CEO, Casella Waste Systems Inc.
John W. Casella has served as chairman of the board of Casella Waste Systems Inc. since July 2001 and as CEO since 1993. He previously held the roles of president from 1993 to July 2001 and chairman from 1993 to December 1999.
John has also been chairman of the board of Casella Waste Management Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary, since 1977. He is an executive officer and director of Casella Construction Inc., a company he owns with his brother, Douglas R. Casella, who also serves on the board. The company specializes in general contracting, soil excavation and heavy equipment work and performs landfill construction and related services.
John has sat on numerous industry and community service-related boards and commissions at the state, local and national levels, including the Associated Industries of Vermont, Association of Vermont Recyclers, Vermont State Chamber of Commerce, Rutland Industrial Development Corp., Rutland Regional Medical Center, National Recycling Coalition, Detachable Container Association and Environmental Research & Education Foundation.
He has also served on state task forces advising the governors of Vermont, New York and New Hampshire on solid waste issues. John holds an associate degree in business management from Bryant & Stratton College and a bachelor’s degree in business education from Castleton University.
