Scott Byrne is the vice president of global sustainability at Sonoco, a global packaging solutions company committed to improving the lives of its customers, employees and communities. With experience across all areas of environmental management and sustainability, Scott helps ensure Sonoco remains at the forefront of sustainability initiatives.

He is the immediate past president and a current board member of the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (AMERIPEN), where he works to further the organization’s goal of leading the packaging industry through science-based advocacy.

Before joining Sonoco, Scott served as market sustainability manager for the U.S. and Canada at Tetra Pak, where he was responsible for the implementation of sustainability programs and driving positive stakeholder engagement as the director of government affairs at the Carton Council of North America, a recycling-focused industry group.

Scott holds a master’s degree in environmental management and sustainability from the Stuart School of Business at the Illinois Institute of Technology, a Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in business economics and public policy from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He is also a member of the Florida Bar.

Outside of work, Scott enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife, their two sons and two miniature schnauzers.
