Rakesh Surana is director of Gemini Corp., a leader in sustainability for 34 years, recycling more than 2 million metric tons of material annually, including plastics, paper, metals, rubber and wood.

He is a chartered accountant (equivalent to CPA in the USA), having joined Gemini’s affiliate in Mumbai, India, in March 1997 before relocating to Belgium in 1999 to take over the plastics business. He grew that division from four people to more than 80 professionals in 24 countries. Gemini has more than 20 percent of the market share in LDPE plastics exports from Belgium, diverting approximately 800 million pounds of plastic from landfills.
